Changelog:
Home Page/System Changes:
The biggest gripe with the home page was that it was unclear what the statics meant. Other notable gripes or suggestions involved the Profile and the navbar. There was also scattered feedback for the suggestions interface and the Today’s Schedule interface. The system changes were either aesthetic or browser/window related.
Home Page:
+When hovering over each class in the statistics portion, a tooltip now pops up telling the user how much EXP they’ve earned for that class
+When hovering over each element Today’s Schedule, a tooltip now pops up advising the user about upcoming tasks for each element.
+The (i) symbol in the Suggestions when moused over now has a tooltip that warns a user if they’re underperforming or encourages a user if they’re doing well.
+Folded the Profile and the Class statistics together and moved it to the top of the home page to produce a home – profile widget
+Added a pie chart showing the EXP distribution of each class. System Changes:
+ Removed black text outlining
- Not sure how to code for Edge, it works on all other browsers
- Didn't make any changes to confirmation windows because we felt that they are fine. We did add some new windows to some Pages to improve feedback though.
Task Creation Page Changes:
The two most common and major concerns with the task creation page were that the feedback what was put into the task creation panel was very poor. There was also no way to fix a mistake if a wrong Class or Activity was dragged into the Task Creation panel. Also it is possible to submit an incomplete task.
The second set of issues was with the date picker. Selecting a day wasn’t clear because the box to do it was a white box with little to not outline. In a date picker the option to confirm was named “Close” which clashed with external consistencies. To remedy everything, we implemented the following:
+ Creation Panel shows what class and activity type is dragged
+ Dragging in a new element overwrites the previous element. For example, if I wanted to drag in Math, but accidentally dragged in English, dragging in Math would now set the Class to “Math.”*
+ If a task is created without all fields filled in, the website now stops you and tells you what you’re missing
+ The day picker now has text on it that says “click here”
+ The text to confirm a day now says “Done” instead of “Close”
* We went with this design because the cases where someone drags in Math, and then accidentally drags in HCI, but really wanted Math, would be too rare. Instead of being able to drag out dragged-in elements it would be faster all the time to just overwrite a mistake made.
Shop Page Changes:
Compared to the Task Creation page there wasn’t a consistent major problem with the shop. There were still a handful of feedback points though regarding visibility, freedom, and aesthetics. We implemented the following:
+ Added a shopping cart symbol in into the Cart panel
+ Cart Panel now shows what items are in it
- Reduced text in Cart Panel to “Current Points: X”
- Did not change the drop down icon because we feel that the existing icon sufficiently represents “multiple items”
Feedback Page Changes:
The biggest recurring issue was that the feedback for completing the Feedback section was poor, and there was no way to undo individual feedback. Other issues concerned how clear it was to drag and drop, and emoji clarity.
+ The completed or not-completed panels now show what tasks have been added in them
+ The emoji panels now show what tasks have been added in them
+ The emojis are now color coded to provide another avenue of information of what each one represents
- The emoji size could not be changed due to Materialize. However, we believe that with the new color coding it should be much clearer what each emoji represents.
- There is no tutorial or text saying “Drag and drop” because in order to give feedback, a user must have created a task already. By this, they should be familiar with the system already and having the text “Drag and drop” seen again would be redundant and cluttersome.
